WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update

Morning all,

SInce I updated the firmware to 2.5.1.16 from 2.5.1.8, I am having an issue with Wifi being connected but no internet being available. To compound the issue, I get the message of 'Connected No Internet' but still have an internet connection. This happens on both 2.4 and 5 bands. To solve the issue, I disconnect from WiFi and reconnect but this shouldn't be the fix.

As best I can tell, this happens only on WiFi. The laptop I am using to type this up is connected to the network via ethernet and I haven't experienced the issue here.My PS4 is also ethernet connected and while I was gaming last night, the TV kept throwing up 'No Internet Connection' messages dialog boxes but the online gaming was uniterrupted.

I am technically inclined but I readily admit that when it comes to networks and their workings, it completely mystifies me. As far as I am concerned it's witchcraft.

Thank you for any help you can provide. It is greatly appreciated!

  • Update as of this moment - installed Firefox (weird it wouldn't work with Chrome!) and was able to roll the firmware back on both the RBR and the RBS to the previous version, which is 2.5.1.8.

Did this around 1600 yesterday afternoon and as of 0930 this morning nothing has dropped the internet connection. Fingers crossed but I feel good that perhaps this did the trick because it would drop multiple times per hour, every hour, for the last couple weeks. Seemed to be the biggest problem on the Samsung S10E and my Androiud HiSense TV (maybe it is a conflict with the Android OS??) and now that I say that out loud, this happened on Android devices. Hmmm....

BretD Noticed you are an admin on this forum. Perhaps you could pass along my experience with this firmware update to Netgear Support. Thanks!

  • Recently I update the orbi firmware version & I noticed they have some bugs

1 major thing connected device not showing ?
  • Please try a factory reset and setup from scratch with the RBR and RBS.

Power OFF the ISP Modem for 30 seconds then back on. Walk thru the setup wizard on the RBR.

So when walking thru the setup wizard on the RBR with a web browser, does it report any problems getting a connection with the modem?

Did you get up a IP address reservation first for the RBR ON the modem so it's IP address doesn't change and then input this into the modems DMZ+?

Try AP mode on the RBR and disable DMZ+ on the PACE modem. See if the RBR works in AP Mode with the PACE modem. Be sure the modems wifi is fully disabled.

Seem others with various problems with the model modem. Most were resolved by upgrading to the Arris BGW-210 modem.

  • Having exactly the same issues. Tends to drop on WiFi about 11pm each night for almost passed week. We as only when I jumped on an IPAD there was a notification on ORBI app that my firmware updated to 2.5.1.16, six days ago which is about right.

I think this update has caused my issues. It's been great to date and should be for money I paid for the kit.

I've not yet tried a factory reset but sounds like didn't help you?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Is Armor or Circle enabled on your system?

Please try a reset on yours....
