Mobile Broadband Disconnected M5

Nighthawk M5 5G WiFi 6 Mobile Router (MR5200)

working but can't connect to data

Your data connection is disconnected. Netgear support and the the provider Vodafone Support

say all the settings are good and it should work. But its not working and is becomming a very expensive brick.

We dont use it that often but at times we need it. I see alot of other people are having simular problems.

I try connecting the Nighthawk router direct to an external erial and if that doesn't work I have to look for something  to replace what we have. Is there another mobil router that people recommend that has good support and isn't so expensive.

  • having similar problems with an m6pro. there is a separate thread about this. most or all of these folks are on att. the m6pro problem is linked to a software update friday night. unsure if it was netgear or att's update.

  • I'v had some success, connecting it to a external erial has given a connection again and it seems to be finding  data. Only thing is the erial is much bigger than the router so its not so portable but maybe its telling me there's an  erial problem.  Will try Netgear support again for help.

what is an erial? do you me aerial (external antenna)?if so what type are you using?

I'm not having any problem with signal strength,if connected to Ethernet port it works fine for 4 min and then cuts out. still has full bars and still works 100% fine if you're connected to wifi.

my workaround has been to put it in bridge mode, and we'll see when I get to work this morning if it stayed stable overnight.

  • external antenna, I was lookingfor  advise from a dutch Forum maybe they spell it that way`. I had no provider(vodafone) connection 4g /  5g. The connection returned after I attached the aerial connections which are 2 x TS-9 external antena connectors. (Not sure why I need 2 connectors)

But If I remove the connector for the aerial the operator 5g or 4g and  bars are gone, no connection. And in the past it worked fine from the same location with no aerial connection.
