Nighthawk MR1100

Went to get on the computer, no WiFi. Turned on the hotspot to see what is the problem, and it says
“Updating device, please do not power off”
The little progress bar has made no progress in hours. I’ve tried removing the battery, using the reset button, and holding the power button to no avail. Any suggestions?

  • If you remove the power (AC and battery) and SIM, then power back up without the SIM installed.  Does it boot up and say "SIM not ready" or something similar?  If so, power down, reinstall SIM and boot back up.

Does it come up to the main screen OR go right into "Updating?"  If Updating, leave in battery and connect to AC for 10min.  If it is really updating the firmware you should see the unit reboot and the screen flash a few times over the course of 5min or so.  If no progress, try holding in manual reset button for 10sec or so until message is displayed. and then repeat the above.

If this doesn't work, its likely the firmware is corrupted and service will be required.

  • I tried the steps, but sadly they didn’t work. I had to take it in to be replaced. Thanks for the help!
