Using MR6500 with Unifi Express Router

I just purchased an MR6500 and I need some pointers of how to set it up to work with my current network.

My router is a Unifi Express device and presently it connects to a DSL modem. I want to replace the DSL with the MR6500. I am planning to connect the MR6500 using ethernet and to connect the Ethernet connector to the router "internet" port.

I realize there will be changes to the router, how do I set up the MR6500 to operate in this mode?

  • I am not an expert but you can try putting MR6500 in passthrough and then plug it into unifi WAN.

  • You can set the MR6500 to bridge mode or IP passthrough, so it acts like a modem and passes the connection to your Unifi Express router. Then, connect the MR6500’s LAN port to the router’s WAN/Internet port. Make sure to disable DHCP on the MR6500 if needed. Check the admin interface for these settings.
