GSM7248v1 power consumption

The datasheet for this product suggests a maximum power draw of 31W. My switch however is drawing 44W with nothing but power plugged in. I managed to shave off 10W  by shutting down most of the interfaces from the CLI. Is there anything else I can do to this switch to save power? It's intended for use in a home environment. I'm only interested in using 802.1x, VLANs and SNMP. I'm not going to use anything like QoS or diffserv. Would disabling such things cut down power draw?

    Hi Kiranc

The datasheet you can find online for GSM7248 is M4100 series current model GSM7248v2h2.

If your model is GSM7248v1 from 2010, maximum power draw was 71 watts with all ports used, maximum traffic on all ports. The power draw you can see in your installation seems consistent with minimal activity. There is nothing material to be done for lowering the power consumption more.

For less power draw, you may want to consider more modern platform with power saving features, like M4100 series models.

    I hope this helps,
    Regards,
