M4300 upgrade from M4100 missing Bridge Multicast Forwarding Table

Dear All,

We are upgrading our link and hardware. Earlier we were using M4100 and now upgrading to M4300.We were able to set Forwarding mode to " Filter Unregistered" under Bridge Multicast Forwarding Table. Now in new switches M4300 we are not seeing this feature.

Any suggestions how to " Filter Unregistered" multicast in M4300?

Please see pictures attached for reference.

Regards,

Muhammad

  • Just found in M4300 configuration guide ,

"M4300 blocks all unregistered multicast packets by default on VLAN 1, including those used by Dante devices. Any end node that wants to receive any of the multicast packets must issue an IGMP report to add itself to the multicast group of interest before it can receive those packets. Since Dante devices already issue the IGMP report, it should work as is (except with mDNS as configured; see Disable Bonjour on M4300)"

So with my current settings Multicast should work, correct? (See picture attached).

    Regards,

I inquired your concern to the higher tier of NETGEAR Support and got a feedback that there is no corresponding option in the M4300 switch.

With regard to this, you may want to post a detailed diagram of your network setup so that the community members would know what are your trying to achieve and post their suggestions here on this thread.
