M7100-24X - ProSafe 24-port 10G - how to reset to Factory Defaults
Hello Community,
With the previous debacle of a Netgear 10GBe switch, I have obtained now the Netgear M7100-24X - ProSafe 24-port 10G so I can continue in our endeavour of upgrading our backbone to 10GBe (Netgeat kit still preferred)
With dual powersupply (nice!) this switch appears to me as a beast of a machine, I have high hopes.
However, this switch was used in a different location already, and its current configuration/settings do not work yet in our environment.
So I want to factory-reset the Netgear M7100-24X - ProSafe 24-port 10G to its default-settings.
And probably need to update the firmware too, once I do have access to the switch again.
At the moment this MX7100-24X does not put out DHCP requests and its IP-config is unknown.
So, it is not visible nor accessable via IP.
Good news is that the console/CLI (via UBS for me) works great, it shows verbose bootup, and once [enter] is hit, asks for the "User:" and "Password:"
Unfortunately, I do not have this information, sadly enough.
As I understand it, the reset-button on the front only resets the switch (like as if powercycled) and does not reset the config, passwords, user-names etc.
So, with no IP access, no information on what username or password has been set to (for the CLI-access) how can I factory default-reset this switch please?
Perhaps something during bootup?
If needed I can copy-and-plaster the current console-output as show during cold-start.
Any suggestions would be highly welcomed!
Thanks!

Searching the KB, I found the "How do I clear the password on a managed GSM switch with firmware 10.x?"
Using the USB Console Driver as available in the download-section (Thank You, Netgear!!) and, because I'm using a Mac, ZTerm to a solid terminal going, I set-up a USB-based serial connection from my Mac.Indeed, pressing Q the moment the switch shows "checking for application.." worked and I was able to reach the "service-menu"
And there, following the procedure as outlined for erasing the password(s)
Then using a FAT32 USB stick with the latest firmware, using the GUI to update the firmware (download) and then a reset-command.
And the switch is now working (read: accessable) again as expected.Too bad that Java has been deappreciated that the Systerm->Device View no longer works.
If anybody has any suggestions how I can get that to work again (perhaps a plugin in the browser?) would make me very happy.
BTW, the M7100-24X is a beast but also loud :)
