Multicast config for Hotel room netgear switch
We have inherited a legacy Multicast / IPTV issue in one of our Hotels.
We are seeing channels ‘freeze and go blank after 15 minutes’ across multiple Hotel rooms. Changing the channel up/down appears to resolve the issue in most cases.
To summarise the setup; IPTV services are pushed out via multicast across a single VLAN (853).
IGMP is configured for this VLAN on both the Core and Edge switches (Aruba)
The Edge switch (Aruba) then connects to a local Netgear switch inside the room and the TV (Samsung) is connected directly in to this Netgear.
What IGMP config would be required on the in-room Netgear?
Thanks.
Mike

Is the uplink a trunk for multiple VLANs?
Either way, at least the port(s) where you need that VLAN 853 must be configured s an access port for the VLAN 855 (with no other untgged memberships), and set to PVID 853 so the untagged frames will be associated to that VLAN only.
Beyond, I would enable Fast Leave on that VLAN.
