Multiple networks on same switch

Hi all,

I would replace 2 switches with only one switch ( Netgear GS748Tv5 ).

Actually the two switches are connected to 2 different routers,  and there isn't a point of connection between their network.

I would copy this configuration on my GS748Tv5. How i can set up it to ensure two isolated network ?

I can't touch the 2 routers.

Attached a fast form to explain what i need.untitled.jpg

Thanks for kind tips,

regards

    Hi JLM_,

    Welcome to the community! :)

I think it would be possible for as long as port-based VLAN would be configured on the GS748Tv5 and as well as VLAN is supported on the two routers.

Hi DaneA, thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately i can't set up the VLAN on routers' side because they are managed from other people.

I thought can exist some actions to perform a sort of port isolation.....

  • I actually do not have a reply for this question rather another question reguarding 2 networks same switch. Our company is in the preocess of updating an older analog phone system to function with an AT&T IPFLEX connection. We have come across a few challenges the current being having to push our network out to a remote building about 1000 meters from the server room. It has been proposed to run a fiber link to the site out of a supplied Avaya switch ERS 3549GT-PWR+ 48 10/100/1000. This will be configured as a VLAN and running as its own DHCP server to administer the IP addresses.

Now to the question. If I run a fiber OUT from the Avaya switch to the remote site and use the Netgear FS728TP at the remote site, can i run the fiber connection into the switch to support the IP phone system AND run out current network into the same switch??? Since I have to push the POE to the remote site I have to replace the current switch that is installed, so i am hoping for 1 single solution. Is this possible or am I missing something in the configuration??

      Hi SGN tech,

      Welcome to the community! :)

About your first question,  it may or may not work.  It's because our FS728TP switch uses specific SFP module/s that is proven compatible to work with specific NETGEAR ProSAFE switch/es that is why it is either possible not to work or possible to work with the Avaya switch.

Regarding your second question, let me verify, does it mean that you want to do PoE over Fiber?  If yes,  I'm afraid that is is not possible to have PoE over Fiber.  However, if you are just trying to send traffic for both over the fiber uplink then that should be fine using voice VLAN and a regular configured VLAN.
