Netgear GS116Ev2 - Connectivity Issues
Have a network set up with GS308T's. Works great and using LAG with LACP. Wanted more ports so looked for a GS316T but no joy. They don't exists so found a GS116Ev2. Looked similar, had LAG as well. And despite being a GS1 it is managed so I bought it. Why isn't there a GS116T?
First of all it wouldn't connect to my existing GS308. I removed a device and plugged the router directly into the empty port. Nothing. Took an IP but I couldn't connect to it so had to download the Netgear utility. What a pain that was had to load Adobe, .Net and something else. Thanks Netgear for getting a junior to code this up and not a standalone utility. It did give me connectivity and I was able to login and change the IP. So I was able to connect up.
Except for the LAG ports everything is just standard. However, just moving them from the GS308T to the GS116E and they stopped working. I turned off the LAG and removed one of the cables to avoid a loop. Connectivity was great on the GS308T but when I just swapped it out with the GS116E it died. I'm not using anything smart on either switch yet one works and one doesn't.
I've also noticed that the GS116E only has static on LAG and, Yes, you guessed it I am using LACP on my GS308Ts. Why is that? It's a protocol that the GS308T recommends. Any chance this will be fixed on a software update?
In case you aren't aware I hate networking. I don't think I have sacrificed enough small furry animals to dark gods yet.
I'm guessing it is something simple. Anyone have any ideas? This is the first time I've had any issues with a switch.

Problem solved with Switch It just doesn't like two cables connected, ready to be turned into a LAG link, without a LAG configuration set up at both ends. Should have been obvious as that was the only non standard settings but I wasn't thinking straight after struggling with getting the IP set up.
