PoE GS108T wit Ubiquiti Rocket M5
I'm trying to get a Ubiquiti Rocket M5 to power up with my Prosafe GS108T. I plug the cat6 into port 1 of the GS108T but nothing is happening. I get ethernet if I use the power injector but no PoE on it's own. Is there a setting I need to turn on in the GS108T for the PoE port 1 to send voltage?
Hi audiotek,
Welcome to the community! :)
The GS108Tv2 is a powered device (PD) and its not a power sourcing equipment (PSE). It can be powered on either by:
1. A device that is IEEE 802.3af compliant (PSE) via port 1.
2. By using the power adapter that came with it.
Since the GS108Tv2 is a powered device (PD), you cannot use it to power on the Ubiquiti Rocket M5 via its port 1.
I recommend you the GS110TP switch because it is a power sourcing equipment (PSE) that complies to the IEEE 802.3af standard. It has 8 PoE ethernet ports and you can use this switch to power on up to 8 powered devices.
