Postal franking machine doesn't work
We have a Neopost postal franking machine. It only supports 10M but I have attached it to a small Netgear switch that does 10./100/1000
and then conected it to our network. As soon as it is plugged...
I would like to have a follow up on this thread. Please let us know if everything works ok now or you still need further assistance.

The network in entirely flat.
As soon as it is pluggin in to the XCM or any switch below it it starts
transmitting like mad - drawing is simpilified in a way
The franking machine only does 10M so to plug it in anywhere

I apologize. Have you tried replacing the cable? How about the NIC card of the postal machine? It seems that everything works fine except this. Do you have another postal franking machine just to isolate?

The franking machine engineer and I had heated words about this damn thing.
So we picked the whole machine up and carted it over to the school next
door and plugged it into their network and it worked fine.
He said ( and he did admit he knew nothing about networking an this is
just from their technical department ) that if it's plugged in and both
network lights are on solid it means it's plugged into a port >10M
I have checked the speed and it's definately 10M to the device ( but 1G thereafter )
I even attached it to a 10M copper to fibre back to back tranciever which only runs at 10M
just to make sure nothing was trying to negotiate up

May I know if the switches are configured with VLANs? You can try to disconnect one computer, then use that port to connect the franking machine. Let's see if that would work. We are just doing this in order to isolate it to the previous ports that you used for testing. We can also manually set the port to 10M just to make sure that it is already set before we connect it.

There are no VLANS - Pluging anything into a port where the franking machine failed, works perfectly
Just discovered this:- On the diagram I sent it shows 2 places where it works but I have just discovered that it only works there if it is plugged into the network before you turn it on.
