Spanning Tree port status
Hi there,
In our network there are two Cisco SG-550 switches connecting to Netgear switch (XS716T) and all them using RSTP. One of the SG is the root switch (priority 0) and the second is backup (priority 4096).However, when I check the ports status for VLAN1 :
on the backup SG:
#show spanning-tree VLAN1
it shows that port G0/0 is blocked (ALTERNATIVE state)!!
It should be one of the Netgear switch ports in blocked state NOT the SG.
Is there a way I can check the status of VLAN1's port as in SG by typing :
#show spanning-tree VLAN1?
Thanks!

Therr seem to be some confusion - caused by Cisco. RSTP is not a by-VLAN protocol, it does work on the port level. Cisco has some proprietary extensions named RPVST+ or PVRST+ - but in a multi-vendor environment should use the standards compliant CST and MST.
- BlacKnight4AspirantThanks so much for your reply; the default STP in Netgear was RSTP, so I configured the spanning-tree mode inboth cisco switches as RSTP.
My question: is there a way to which port is blocked by STP?Switching -> STP -> Advanced .... e.g. RSTP
