A couple of issues with my 2 managed switches.

Hi - Before i get started id just like to say that im pretty hopeless with networking....i can get through the basics but ill need some help...!

Ive got a couple of issues. The first is a bit strange....oh - sounds a bit extreme but ive got 2x 48 port swtiches in use at home, One GS748TPS and one gs748TS. Both of them are about 60% utilized (in that 60% of the sockets are used but not all are live. Back to the issue....for some weird reason (and i think its the POE switch only) not all devices can pick up an ip from the router....devices that cant... ive got DE10-Nano dev board for playing old MAME rom games on - this cannot get an ip - along with an old ps3. If i plug my laptop in (2 in 1 Dell inspiron core i7) it picks up an ip fine. If i put an 8 port unmanaged switch in the way both devices can get an ip....

The second issue is a how to....i dont have any SFP's and as theyre only 60% utilized can i use the last 4 ethernet ports on each and bind them together to give more bandwidth between the 2?

Thanks to anyone that helps.

Andy

A PS3 has an industry standard GbE port - why should this require any fiddling?

Of course you could create some LAG using multiple links, being using RJ45 copper ports, being by using the SFP ports (what requires SFP to whatever media [fiber, copper]. Depends on the usage of the link currently connecting the two switches if this is required or not.

What is a repeater in your context?
