Can a GS724TP be configured as a high availability switch?????
Can a GS724TP be configured as a high availability switch????? I started working for a small company and they are using a combination of Netgear GS724TP and GS748Tv4 coming from a SonicWall switch. I'm also using Auvik monitoring and I see the GS748Tv4, however the GS724TP is just a cloud which shows my configuration as a loop. So I'm determining if this is a legitimate high availability switch or if someone just made something up and charged them accordingly. From the sonic wall I have 3 connections going to the GS724TP and 1 connection going to the GS748Tv4. Any insights?

- Typical L2 HA config is achieved by configuring STP, better RSTP. Just set one slightly higher in the STP priority. This way for the core you have a master and a backup.
Needless to say, second uplink port would still be in blocking state, so your monitoring system won't see everything.
Needless to state again that the next HA switch layer needs again different prio, and need to be configured these don't pick up the cross-traffic and blocking.
If you are seeking a active/passive L3 high availability (HA) configuration, you need fully L3 capable switches and a set of HA security appliances, all supporting the industry standard VRRP (as defined in RFC 3768) to protect tenant routers and floating IP addresses.- RonMullerBevAspirant
