Can't update firmware on GS724T via web GUI

I have tried following the instructions for updating the firmware on my (yes, rather old) GS724T using the HTTP method described in the release notes for the firmware download.

Oddly, after selecting the firmware file that I've downloaded and clicking Apply, the expected next step doesn't happen. According to the pictures in the instructions, a progress bar is supposed to appear, along with a messages warning that the process might take several minutes. Instead, a different button appears so briefly that I can't see what it is, and then the Apply and Cancel buttons reappear but greyed out.

As I'm working from a Mac, I can't install the SCC software, but this method doesn't depend on the OS used. Can anyone suggest why this is happening, or how to successfully update the firmware via this method (perhaps bia TFTP instead)?

The TFTP process is part of the fine manual.

Easier could be installing a less "demanding" browser like a Mozilla Firefox and use the HTTP process instead.

    Hi RedGreen,

If using any browsers still doesn't work, please check the current firmware version of the switch as you may need to follow the instructions here instead if it's running on v4.2.x.
