Connect two Switches

Hello,

I have a GS724tpp switch that is working great. On one of the runs I have a small dumb hub that connects 3 devices to the network. When this connection is connected the three devices do not have connectivity. If I take the hub out of the picture the one PC that is connected works fine.
Is there a setting on that port that I need to change to get this working?

Thank you,

Tom H

    hoff081,

    Welcome to the community! 🙂

Was everything working fine before?  If yes, are there any changes made on the settings of the GS724TPP or any changes on your network setup?

Is the small dumb hub directly connected to the GS724TPP?

Are you using the GS724TPP just like an unmanaged switch?

Kindly post an image of your network diagram.  Make it very detailed as possible.

      Hello DaneA,

      Was everything working fine before?

The switch they had in place stopped working and they replaced it with the GS724TPP.

Is the small dumb hub directly connected to the GS724TPP?

      Yes it is.

Are you using the GS724TPP just like an unmanaged switch?

      Yes they are.

Pretty simple network and they not have a diagram of it. Flat network with about 18 workstations\network devices. One office has a run into it with the dumb hub with a computer and a time clock plugged into it. With the hub in place neither device has has network connectivity, by pass the hub and the device connected has connectivity.

      Thank you,

      Tom

  • Also,

The switch is running the config that it came with out of the box.

      @hoff081,

Just to verify, there is connectivity through the GS724TPP and it works fine.  But when this small dumb hub is directly connected to the GS724TPP, the devices connected to the small dumb hub, does not have connectivity.  Am I right?

What is the behavior of the corresponding port LED on the GS724TPP where the small dumb hub is directly connected?

What is the brand/model of the small dumb hub?

Is there a router in the network?  If yes, is it directly connected to the GS724TPP?

      Regards,
