FS728TP Upgrade from V3.0.0.22
Hi.
I just bought a reconditioned FS728TP and it's running V3.0.0.22. Clearly the upgrade to the oldest version I could find on the Nether site (V5.0.2.19) is too big a step and I keep getting the warning that the file format is incorrect.
Please could someone advise where I can access older versions and maybe what the minimum number of steps I could do this upgrade path in is?

Based on the current firmware of the switch that you have, it is a v1 and the latest firmware for that is v5.0.0.8 which you can download here.
That being said, please use the Smartwizard Utility (download here) to upgrade the firmware and refer to page 1-9 of the user manual here for the instructions.

There are two different hardware versions of these switches, v1 and v2.
Current 3.0.0.2 tells us it's a v1 - where only 5.0.0.7 and the latest 5.0.0.8 are available.

Warning:
- Please make sure the firmware version of your FS728TP smart switch is running with version 3.0.0.22 before upgrading it to version 5.0.0.7. Otherwise, the device will become inoperable.
- If your device is running with V1.x.x.x firmware, please refer to the upgrade instruction for version 3.0.0.22.
- Please go to Maintenance->Download to upgrade the boot code to version 1.0.0.5 first before upgrading the firmware to version 5.0.0.7
The 3.0.0.22 requirement is set, however, the boot code might require an update.
Note: The https://www.netgear.com/support/product/FS728TPv2#download v2 versions can't be installed on the v1 model.
