GS308EP Won't Factory Reset

A common misunderstanding is that users expect the switch does revert to the factory default IP address. Correct is: The default is DHCP - and as long as the switch is connected to a DHCP server, an address from the DHCP pool will be assigned. The DHCP client does revert to the default IP address if there is no DHCP server assigning an address.

 

 

Also worth a shot is using the Netgear Discovery Tool  - permitting the switch isn't misconfigured to an IP address outside of the PC or computer IP subnet. This is a major difference to the earlier Netgear tools, able to discover a switch by using a pure L2 discovery, regardless of the current IP config.

Nothing like a management port or management VLAN on these Gigabit Ethernet Easy Smart Managed Essentials Switch (formerly Plus Switches). As these are -not- managed switches, this thread was moved by a moderator to the appropriate section.

 

Difficult to provide a useful replay, since there is no effective problem shown - I'm convinced the reset button does work as designed and documented.

 

So please try be a little bit more specific what why you thought you had to do a factory reset, and what you have done after the factory reset process - furthermore what you have expected.

 

 

Try holding it for 30 seconds while the switch is powered on.
