Help with STP on GS748TP
I've been having problems with a SONOS system which has wired players to my Netgear GS748TP switch. SONOS support has given some advice on setting STP on the switch to help resolve the problem.

The solution presented by SONOS applies to managed switch and not smart switches. I suggest you to open a chat / case online on NETGEAR support and please let them know the status of the switch and escalate the case if needed.

Hi Andyh747,
Welcome to our community! :)
I also read that when it comes to connecting SONOS system in NETGEAR switches, you may need to enable the classic STP and enable BPDU to flooding. May you please try to update the firmware first of the switch to its latest version and then try to set it up again?

Thanks for reply.
Switch already running latest firmware. Have tried classic STP but I am unable to select Flooding with STP enabled. Tried everything but as soon as you select STP the switch defaults to Filtering rather than Flooding.

May I know the issue when the BPDU is in default setting? Have you tried to reset it to factory default and re-create the configuration? I saw some of the forum posts in SONOS that they didn't even change the BPDU and it worked.

I was experiencing SONOS drops and intermittent slow network performance. However I couldn't identify if the network performance was down to SONOS or the switch. SONOS support seemed to think it was the switch settings but after they changed them the SONOS unit in question dropped off and only when I reversed the settings did things change. So far I haven't had any problems since so it's all a bit confusing for now.
My next move will be a reset of the switch.
Out of interest should I be able to select BPDU to Flooding with STP enabled? As it stands I can't and wonder if this is normal.
