Network switch GS305E recieving 100 mbit/s instead of 500 mbit/s

I recently bought the GS305E network switch, but in my router it says that it only recieves 100 mbit/s instead of the 500 mbit/s that I have.
since the day I bought this switch, I now have stutters while communicating with others while having online class or while gaming with friends.
Is there a way to make the switch recieve the 500 mbit/s?

I have the Ethernet cable from the router connected with port 5 on the switch. (it has 5 ports, not 8)

    what router do you have?

Have you tried replacing the cable between router and switch? Make sure its a cat5e or greater cable to ensure its gigabit. A cat 5 cable will only* connect at 100mbps.

whare are the led's on the switch showing? (both lights green=gigabit  only one=100mbps)

*some will hit gigabit but they tend to be short and higher quality ones. Rare

        Glad it wasn't the switch!

        Hope it fixed your issue
