Phone will not register Cisco 7965G and Netgear GS 752 TPP
Here is my problem.
I have added this GS752TPP to an existing Cisco network.
Vlan 10 is installed as the native Vlan.
Vlan 20 is the voice Vlan.
I have half of the switch set as PVID 10 so anything plugged in get a data IP.
I have Vlan 20 Tagged.
If I plug a Cisco 7965G phone into it, the phone registers but gets a data IP and will not make calls. The phone is set to administrative Vlan 20. Any computer gets an IP from the data range and connects to the internet.
I have the other half as PVID 20.
The phones work here but any computer plugged into the phone gets a voice IP and therefore, no internet.
There is a fiber link between the Cisco and Netgear. Both Vlans are Tagged over the trunk.
With the PVID set to 10, Vlan 10 untagged, Vlan 20 Tagged and the phone set to use Vlan 20, I should be able to have both work over the same post, ie the computer plugged into the phone as usual.
I am presuming that the Cisco switch identifies the difference through CDP.
What am I missing?
What would happen if I use the Voice Vlan wizard? Is it just a short cut for the tagging that I have been doing?
I greatly appreciate any help that staff can offer me!!
Thank you!
So I have finally gotten the phones to work!!
I made sure that LLDP was enabled.
Then I deleted all tagging associated with Vlan 20, which is the Voice Vlan.
I did NOT delete Vlan 20, only any Tagging and Untagging.
Then I went to the Auto-VoIP.
There is a short list of vendors and the first 3 of their MAC's. What I missed before was that I can add MAC's to this list.
So, I deleted most of the existing info and then added the first 3 groups of the MAC's from the phones they want to work through the Netgear switch.
I then enabled Auto-VoIP on all of the interfaces.
By the time I could walk to the phones, they had the correct IP and attached computers had their correct IP!!!
Success!!
Thank you to everyone that contributed!!

Additional info-
The switch has been added to an existing Cisco network. It worked fine for just data. Now they want to move 2 Cisco phones to the area covered by the Netgear switch.
Since telling teh phone to use Vlan 20 does not work, what other options are there for me?
