Switch GS728TPPv2 not working when connected to wireless bridge
Hi all,
I tried others forums but to no avail ....
we need to switch our security cams to poe system. Since the building is not ours we cannot use utp everywhere.
Here is the basic setup of our Mesh network:
Main is GT-AX11000. We added 2 RT-AC67U and 1 RT-AC5300 in Mesh setup (so 3 nodes).
I want to connect a switch Netgear GS728TPP with utp on a mesh node (RT-ac67u) with 2 poe cams connected (node wireless connection to main router). I cannot reach them in this setup.
More relevant info:.
- RT ac67u has connection with the internet. I tested both wifi and UTP (with laptop). Main router UI confirms and reports all nodes online
- When the switch is connected (utp) to main router, cams are reachable and work as expected.
- When switch is connected (utp) to node that is connected (utp) to main router. all works (node is then just a utp switch basically)
So we think we must have missed sth basic in the setup or sth?
The switch is in still in default state. Nothing changed in settings.
I have been trying for weeks now, so maybe sbdy can point me in the reight direction?
thanks for taking the time!
Welcome to the community! :)
Just to verify. The GT-AX11000 is connected wirelessly to the 1st RT-AC67U then the GS728TPP is connected hardwired to the 1st RT-AC67U, am I right?
What is the IP address set on the devices? Are they all set to static IP Addresses?
Are there VLANs configured in your network setup?
What is the current firmware of the GS728TPP?

Try one of these:
- Disable STP (or RSTP, or MST) and enable "Forward BPDU while STP Disabled", or
- Enable STP the switch and on all ports and set the prio (aka. Configuration Revision Level ) to 32768.
These typically fix strange issues with consumer style Mesh systems.

Hi DaneA,
Just dropped in to say a BIG THANK YOU! Your First suggestion worked like a charm!!
I had given Up to be honest.
For other users: setup is as described above. All gear has static I.P. and I have no vlans. Firmware Version V6.0.3.3.
Huge thank you again. you saved me a lot of hassle (and my wife a headache from me behaving like a child lol)
