30 m CAT6 cable length seems too long
I have tried using a UNIFI AP from an unmanaged 108 switch. It works off 1 m lengths of cable. But when attached to about 30m, the AP connects successfully for 30 seconds and then drops and reports it i searching for connection.
Can anyone advise on how to establish connection through the CAT 6 cable

Try a different cable. I've to frequently seen sketchy cables cause issues. And if it works at 3-6ft, it should work up to 300ft.

A bad cable is always a possibility. Is your 30 m cable a commercially manufactured item?
The Unifi Access Point (UAP) requires Power Over Ethernet (POE) to function. The different UAP models require different levels of power.
I do not know if your un-managed 108 switch supplies sufficient power for your UAP. The power supply could be marginal and work fine with a 1 m cable but not be sufficient to power the UAP over a 30 m length of cable.
Compare the power requirements details for your UAP and compare them to the power supply details for your switch.

I use a POE injector so power isnt an issue.
Any thoughts on why a connection is made when the AP is first powered but then drops out. It does this every time the AP is powered on.

I am using professional reel of Cat6. The cable tester signals OK on all 8 strands

Do you know the full model designation and generation of your UAP? Something like UAP-Pro (Gen2).
Are you using the POE injector that was supplied with your UAP or a different one? It could still be a power supply issue that shows up when using the different length of Ethernet cables.
I doubt if your cable tester tests for current carrying capability or data transmission. Most likely it only tests for continuity and conductor sequence.
Do you have an intermediate length Ethernet cable you could use for a test?
Unifi has had a number of firmware updates for their UAP line. Are you sure you are giving your UAP sufficient time to go through a firmware update and restart? It could be ten minutes or more. Best done with the short Ethernet.
What version of the Unifi network controller are you using to configure your UAP? It would show if a firmware update for your UAP is available. Also it would provide power supply information at your UAP.
