8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch GS108 not connecting to Samsung smart TV

I bought this switch so that we could use Ethernet at 2 tv's that don't have cable boxes on which we watch tv using Spectrum internet app. Plugged into the switch is the ethernet from the ISP modem, the ethernet to our wireless router, one laptop - all worked right away. Plugged the ethernet cable into the tv and the switch and the network is not found. I changed the internet setting on the tv to "wired". I can plug that ethernet cable into my laptop and it works fine. I'm probably missing something simple. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rick

    Welcome to the community! 🙂

     

    The advisable network setup would be ISPmodem--router--GS108.  The router should be directly connected to the ISP modem.  The GS108 should be directly connected to the router.  All end devices like the laptop and TV should be connected to either the router or GS108.  

     

    Be reminded that the GS108 is an unmanaged, pass-through switch and its main purpose is to extend the local network.  The router is responsible in providing local IP addresses to end devices like the laptop or TV.

      Well possible these Spectrum IP TV are requiring IGMP Multicast for the live TV (not for the playback or recorded TV).
