GS105 Troubleshooting Low Upload Speed

Installed a new GS105 switch.  Fiberoptic into house to router, connect router to switch.

Laptop gets 900 Mbbs download / upload when hardwired via network cable

Desktop gets 750 Mbbs download / 5 Mbbs upload when hardwired via network cable.

If I disconnect cable on desktop and use via Wifi, I get 350 down / 350 up.

When I hook up laptop to cable used for desktop, I get 900 down / 900 up.

So issue appears to be desktop computer.

Tried turning off McAfee, rebooting switch, and restarting computer.

Desktop still struggles with uploaded when hardwired.

Any advice or suggestions welcome

Thanks,

John

  • Problem solved.

Disabled the Killer app software that Dell loads.  Once removed, speeds are back to full down and up (800 Mbbs for both).

Of course, yes. Time to update the network adapter drivers

Soon time for some more decent WiFi client, Wi-Fi router and/or access point tech?

Appreciate the input.  After taking switch out of the equation (desktop directly to router), can confirm the desktop networking is the issue.

Desktop is from 2019.  Updated all drivers from Dell site.  Restarted, but still have same issue with decent down / up on wifi and excellent down / poor up (5 Mbbs) hardwired.

Do you think a new network card would solve the issue?  May give that a shot.
