Gs324v2 Port

Hello everyone,

I have just purchased a Netgear GS324v2 switch for my home network and I have set it up as I normally would by attaching the ethernet cable from my router to port 1 and then everything else to the other ports but upon looking at the manual that came with it they show the router connected to port 24 which seems odd. I just wanted to check if there was any need for this or is the manual wrong or am I wrong or does it not matter? I am confused because every other switch I have ever owned says use port 1 for input and the rest are outputs....

I use port 24 on mine, that way for connection and wall ID or device ID, one can use port 1 for a ID of 1. For sequencial ID naming.
If you don't use this then you can use port 1 for the connection to the host router. I don't think it matters when it comes to non managed switches. User preference.

    Hello Chris_Chelt,

Welcome to the NETGEAR Community! 🙂

You can use any port as input/uplink port to the router. There is no specific port assigned for this.
