Home Switch Recommendations
Greeting Netgear Community,
I would like to seek your advice and knowledge regarding purchasing a switch for home environment.
I am based in Melbourne and recently moved into a two-story house.
Previously I've been using the Telstra Router (for about 7-10 years) and have daisy-chained some old routers together to connect devices.
NOTE: There were times when I had to disconnect a device so that I could connect to another device on the network
With the change in environment, I've decided to invest in a switch so that all my devices can remain on the network.
As part of the network upgrade, I've purchased 2x WAX625 AP (for the Ground Floor and Level 1) so that WIFI coverage/ speed is sufficient.
I am planning to mount the switch to a communications/ server rack.
I am looking for a Switch that meets the following requirements:
- Require 24 ports Gigabit
- 2x of the ports need to be able to POE (for the WAX625 AP)
- Reliable (something that will last for another 7 to 10 years) without much maintenance
- Future proof (given my PC and AP can utilize 2.5Gigabit, it may be worth depending on cost to get a 2.5Gigabit 24port switch)
I'm looking for suggestions and recommendations to move forward.
NOTE: Maybe the best option for cost saving is to purchase a 16x port Gigabit and a small 5x port 2.5 Gigabit switch with POE
Thank you in Advance
Regards San

You can keep it simple and look into a MS108EUP (giving up the option for using Netgear Insight), certainly making a good starting point.
More promising from the bandwidth capabilities and future would make the MS510TXUP, which offers Netgear Insight management.
More difficult to find would be similar priced 16 or 24 port units. A possibility would be the M4350-24X4V for example - fully managed, stackable, ... Just to have enough bandwidth, lots of MultiGig and 10GbE ports. That would be s major investment however.
Don't know what capabilities the coming-up WiFi 7 Wireless AP are bringing to the uplink requirements. My guess it will be challenging 8-)

Also not Netgear Insight manageable, just with Plus Web UI configurable are the XS512EM and the XS724EM, all MultiGig to 10G Ethernet non-PoE ports if you need a switch with more ports than the tiny MS108EUP.
Still readily available worldwide, except of mainland China when I have it right.

Update: Just discovered Netgear has also released the MS108TUP 8-Port Multi-Gigabit (2.5G) Ethernet Ultra60 PoE++ Smart Switch - including Netgear Insight Cloud management - earlier this month.
Pricing is already laying in the market 8-)

Some more Netgear Smart Switch news are dropping in these days:
MS324TXUP — 24-Port Multi-Gigabit (2.5G) Ethernet Ultra60 PoE++ Smart Switch with 4 SFP+ Ports
The 200 Gbps non-blocking core and 720 W PoE++ power supply capacity come with a reasonable price tag. y-axis in CHF (Swiss Francs) including 7.7% VAT
