thanks
am on Mac OS El Capitan
tried ipconfig but I guess the Mac version does not include /all
router is leased from Whidbey Tel and they do permit end users to log in to the router
but
riddle is solved
I crawled up into the ceiling, unstrapped the ADT Pulse Gateway, turned it over, and what did I find
in teeny tiny letters "by Netgear of California" with a MAC address that matches
so
when Fing, etc report IP and MAC by Netgear, they are correct
they are referring to the ADT Pulse device, NOT the Netgear switch
so riddle is solved, thank you all

Hi engravosaurus,
Is the Linksys switch a manageable switch? If yes, then possibly the IP address you see belongs to the Linksys switch.

so I unplugged the ADT alarm wifi device
then the Netgear IP went at away
perhaps the IP belongs to the ADT device but the system cannot figure that out so assigns it to the last thing it recognizes

Hi engravosaurus,
Just like what I have thought, did your router list the IP with the FS105's MAC? It could be having a hard time recognizing the devices plugged in to it or probably have something to do with the other switch which feeds the FS105.
Let us know if you have more questions.
Thanks,

yes Netgear MAC address
should now abort as I know more than I need to but tis fun
how do I show IP, MAC and vendor (all 3) of all devices on the network
the various apps I have tried do not show everything in one place
and tried ifconfig and arp
