I have a GS305v3 unmanaged switch that I just bought and attempted to use. It is connected to my internet via cat6 cable that I ran from my office in my house where my router/modem is located, to my bedroom. When I connect any device to the ethernet port that I put in the bedroom, I have no issues connecting to the internet. But if I plug the switch into the port, then any device to the switch, no internet is passing through. All lights on the switch illuminate as they should according to the manual, but I can't seem to find any info as to what the problem possibly is. For a clear picture of how all the hardware is set up: Fiber internet direct to router/modem in office Cat6 cable to ethernet port in office Cat6 cable from office ethernet port to bedroom ethernet port through the attic Any device connected directly to ethernet port in bedroom works perfectly with 1000mbps+ download Switch plugged direct to ethernet port, devices plugged into switch, no internet to any devices Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance to anyone who offers advice.54Views0likes17CommentsMS305 overheating from new - no serial number!
I bought a new MS305 in January this year off Amazon UK and it's been overheating badly from new - REALLY hot to touch. (I've replaced with an MS308 now which is fine). So I've come to get support off Netgear only to find out that the unit has no serial number on the label and two screws missing from the back of the unit. To be clear, it came as new in a sealed package. I've got no way to get in touch with Netgear as there's no serial number. Any help/suggestions please.35Views0likes4CommentsWhat are the dimensions of the barrel plug for GS205v2 ethernet switch power adapter?
I've lost my 5V 0.7A power adapter for my NETGEAR GS205v2 ethernet switch so I'm looking for exact dimensions of the barrel on the power plug so I can get a new one i.e. the diameter of the outside and inside of the barrel, and the barrel length, in millimeters. I can sort of guess-timate using a ruler but I'll almost certainly end up getting one slightly too big or small, so I'm looking for the exact specs please. Thanks so much for any help!42Views0likes1CommentXS508M sometimes two LEDs remains permanently yellow
dear all, my case in short: since 1 year now i am facing a problem with one of my Varta Battery Storage connection. The connection and traffic on the switch is working after the two led's are blinking. Something seems to change the connectivity or better there is no traffic anymore. Then I am not able to connect to the Battery Storage consol direct via the IP or the name. The IP is stored as fix in the router. This is always happening overnight or early morning hours. The interesting thing is that my battery solution consists of two battery storage units and a Varta Link, which monitors the connections and controls the storage units. its always only the second varta storage connection making the issue. my Infrastructure: The Switch is connected 10G SFP+ Port to the core switch XS512EM. The Core Switch XS512EM is connected with the Router witch is working as DHCP Server. I am running 10GB NAS of QNAP on this infrastructure incl. Surveillance Cameras connected to the NAS via the core Switch. Also in the network infrastructure the typical PCs, IP consoles and SmartHome technology is connected. my resolution: After I disconnect the cable on the switch (XS508M) and wait for a while, the connection is again active and the lights are blinking again yellow/amber (=>100 mbit). Last time (3 weeks ago) it was the same but I was not able to reconnect with the same cable,.... so I changed the cable (CAT5e to CAT6a) and it worked again. Also I changed the port. I use now the port of the first Varta Storage.... but this was probably not the problem I guess :-) Two years ago this issue started (every week the connection was lost) and I thought that this was caused by my old 16 port GBit switch. So I changed the setup and bought these new setup to ensure that this will not happen again. Also I forced Varta to change the Network Modul inside the storage (complete new inverter I got)..... Any Idea what issue could trigger this behaviour? Is this isue comming from wrong cable or setup is wrong I need to connect the Varta Environment by a cheep Switch and connect the via one cale to the 10GBIT infrastructure? Hope someone can give me an idea... BR Dimi #XS508M #Varta #Connection44Views0likes2CommentsProSafe 16 Port Gig Switch GS116v2
Apologies for putting this here, but the board apparently has no dedicated forum for home switches My trusty gig switch GS116v2 suddenly stopped responding on inputs 5-12. Not sure what to do about this, although the warranty says that its good until 2041 (or so). When I try to go through automated support it tells me I need a support contract, which isn't true, and so I can't really move forward with even calling someone. It also doesn't help that Netgear has no option for home switch support on the phone line. Not sure what to do about it. If support is monitoring, can you please let me know how to proceed?255Views0likes1CommentGS308P left yellow LED blinks slow. No Internet Connection on this port
Hi everyone, what could be the reason when the left led blinks Slow and rythmically (not the fast flickering when there is Traffic)? I have No Internet Connection on the TP-Link EAP115 N300 Wireless Ceiling Mount Access Point that is connected to this port with the blinking led. I already connectrd another AP to this cable and No Internet there also. When i Plug another cable from another AP into the port the internet connection works fine. So for whatever reason there seems to be a problem with the cable that has worked for some years now. But is the blinking led maybe pointing to something else? Am i missing something? Thanks in advance!569Views0likes1CommentUNMANAGED GS316PP
Hi all, I am trying to find out if this switch GS316PP, is effectively and active or passive switch? I realise all the ports are POE+. 1) Can I connect any device to it wether they need 1W or 30W? 2) and can I connect devices that do not need power at all/not POE compatible? such a printer or land adaptor for a computer etc? Thank so much for clarifying!716Views0likes1Comment
