Apologies for putting this here, but the board apparently has no dedicated forum for home switches My trusty gig switch GS116v2 suddenly stopped responding on inputs 5-12. Not sure what to do about this, although the warranty says that its good until 2041 (or so). When I try to go through automated support it tells me I need a support contract, which isn't true, and so I can't really move forward with even calling someone. It also doesn't help that Netgear has no option for home switch support on the phone line. Not sure what to do about it. If support is monitoring, can you please let me know how to proceed?243Views0likes1CommentGS308P left yellow LED blinks slow. No Internet Connection on this port
Hi everyone, what could be the reason when the left led blinks Slow and rythmically (not the fast flickering when there is Traffic)? I have No Internet Connection on the TP-Link EAP115 N300 Wireless Ceiling Mount Access Point that is connected to this port with the blinking led. I already connectrd another AP to this cable and No Internet there also. When i Plug another cable from another AP into the port the internet connection works fine. So for whatever reason there seems to be a problem with the cable that has worked for some years now. But is the blinking led maybe pointing to something else? Am i missing something? Thanks in advance!551Views0likes1CommentUNMANAGED GS316PP
Hi all, I am trying to find out if this switch GS316PP, is effectively and active or passive switch? I realise all the ports are POE+. 1) Can I connect any device to it wether they need 1W or 30W? 2) and can I connect devices that do not need power at all/not POE compatible? such a printer or land adaptor for a computer etc? Thank so much for clarifying!681Views0likes1CommentGS316 Unmanaged Switch Not Providing Internet
Hello, I have a GS316 16 port unmanaged switch feeding my home network. My ISP router connects to the switch and then the switch feeds multiple wall outlets around the house and another 5 port switch. This setup has worked almost flawlessly for over 6 years until yesterday. Now the ports that have connections to active devices (including the router) flash both LEDs green continuously, but at different rates. I cannot get an internet connection on any port. I've tried the following troubleshooting: Power down switch and power on = fail Connect directly to router ethernet = pass Use a different cable from router to GS316 = fail Try different ports for connecting router to GS316 = fail Connect directly to GS316 (instead of via wall outlets) = fail Connect the 5-port switch to the router = pass This leads me to believe the switch is no longer working correctly. Are there any more troubleshooting steps I could try? Thanks1.8KViews0likes5CommentsDifferences between the GS105 and GS108 models?
Hi, We use several 5- and 8-Port-Gigabit-Ethernet-Unmanaged-Switches (GS105 and GS108). Unfortunately, after an update of the telephone system, the telephones in the offices only work with the GS105 models. The problem is reproducible: GS105 - phone is fine, GS108 - phone does not work. So, the question arises: What is the difference between these two switches from the same model series (apart from the fact that one has 5 ports and the other 8)? BTW: The computers in the offices are satisfied with both models. Best regards, Layer22.1KViews0likes3CommentsDaisy Chaining GS108 through outlet?
So I’m having a bit of an issue. I can’t upload pictures from my phone on here so if they are needed I’ll upload tomorrow, as i need to get to sleep but this issue is eating away at me. So I have fiber internet through Midco. I have two switches. Switch 1 is in the office, it has PC1 and PC2 connected, as well as the router and Midcos Pod(Wi-Fi extender). Switch 2 is in my closet, which houses Ethernet cables to the outlets and some box that has to do with the fiber. It may be due to the device on the end of the CAT5 (I believe Fiber to cat5 device, can find out tomorrow) but I want to make sure it’s not my switches. Both are GS108 switches. Port 1 on Switch 1 runs to Port 1 on Switch 2. Whenever I try connecting a 3rd PC I get an unidentified network connection, and it fails to allocate an IP. I’ve tried using the outlet in the living room to connect a PS4 through LAN and it also fails to obtain an ip. Also tried restarting Switches and router several times. Are the switches not connected to each other and extending the network like I think they are? I contacted my ISP support and they suggested I may need another pod to plug into Switch 2, but she also said it was out of her knowledge and I don’t see how a Wi-Fi extender is what I need here. However I could be wrong. Would appreciate any info, thanks!709Views0likes1CommentXS508M connection issues
Hello, ever since I have my XS508M in use (since a bit over a year now), some devices have problems correctly connecting to the network while plugged into the XS508M Switch. Problems I have encountered are: 1. Connecting my main router/modem (Fritzbox 6591 Cable, 1Gb, DHCP) directly to the XS508M leads to packetloss from all devices to the router&internet. I've fixed this issue by connecting the router through a Zyxel 1Gb switch to the Netgear XS508M. 2. One PC (Windows 10, 1Gb) connected to the Netgear XS508M gets packetloss and sometimes doesn't corretly connect to the network. Connecting the PC directly to the Router fixes the issue. 3. Another PC (Windows 10, 2.5 Gb) sometimes doesn't connect to the network correctly and the network card needs to be reset or plugged out and in a few times until it works. Windows troubleshooting does help sometimes (it also rests the network adapter) and says the problem was "Ethernet has no valid IP configuration". 4. Arduino Uno with Ethernet Shield (WS5100), which is connected through a 1Gb switch to the Netgear XS508M sometimes needs a few times of plugging out and in until it connects to the network. Weirdly, my linux server with 10Gb and a third Windows PC with 2.5 Gb never had a problem with the switch. I have tried changing network cables, changing ports and setting speed and duplex modes on the Windows PCs. This didn't fix the problems. The probelms started to get more annoying in the last weeks, which is why I'm trying to fix it now. I also tried getting hardware support through the Netgear website, but I only get an error stating "somethingWentWrong'". Any help would be appreciated!2.9KViews0likes11Comments
