MS305 overheating from new - no serial number!

I bought a new MS305 in January this year off Amazon UK and it's been overheating badly from new - REALLY hot to touch.  (I've replaced with an MS308 now which is fine).

So I've come to get support off Netgear only to find out that the unit has no serial number on the label and two screws missing from the back of the unit.  To be clear, it came as new in a sealed package.

I've got no way to get in touch with Netgear as there's no serial number.

Any help/suggestions please.

Its an as is device, no warranty and if no serial, no tracking for it. Seems like someone as already inside of it. Can take it appart and see if may the heat sinks were removed or something seems to be operating hot. Otherwise, you've replaced it and could be recylced.

Is it hot if turned on with out anything connected to it?

It came like that as new, boxed and sealed.  It's only a few months old.  Where the serial number should be printed, it's just blank, not removed, just blank.

Amazon and other have the ability to plastic seal boxes so it may have looked new but something may have happened prior.

Does the new switch have a serial number?
