FVS318N refuses to connect to comcast modem

Yes, the modem is. 4 port smc/smb, not sure what the name it correctly. MODEM has (5 Static IP Addresses assigned but only 4 in use)
Modem Port 1 - IP#1 ->FVS318N->Unmanaged Switch->multiple desktops, printers, etc
Modem Port 2 - IP#2 ->Server 2012 Beta working as a webserver with no issues
Modem Port 3 - IP#3 ->Cisco ASA5505->Unmanaged Switch->Server 2003 Machine, other desktops and printers
**I replaced the ASA5505 with a Netgear home wireless router and it works fine now
Modem port 4 - ip#4 ->direct to Windows 2008 Machine serving web traffic
Stuff connected to each port is it own small network of device/devices. And they don't cross over. My biggest concern is that the FVs318n refuses to connect. Told modem is in bridge mode so that it just passes traffic through to my network
