SSL VPN on FVS336G
I have been able to successfully setup an SSL VPN on a FVS336GV1 with the latest firmware but have several issues with it. All of them on Windows XP or 7 clients.
The performance is very low with just one client connected. I have noticed that it uses virtualpassage.exe to connect. If you check the connection settings it uses "ISDN Canal - Virtual Passage SSLDrv Adapter" to connect with 1x64K channel to connect. Am I missing something here or is it supposed to behave like that.
On the other hand, the connection is highly error prone. Depending on the PC sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't lots of error messages such as "installation is corrupt" "the modem is in use", etc. On some, once you connect you can't see the internal network, on others you see some of it and in a few you see everything.
The bottom line is, is this something recommended or is it better to setup an IPSec VPN with shrew client. I will put a separate thread on that.

- arturogAspirantI am using the DC which is acting as an internal DNS
- jmizoguchiVirtuosoconfirmation question if you put your DNS server info in SSL-VPN portal setups
- arturogAspirantWhat do you mean? I see no way to input a DNS in the portal layout config tab.
- arturogAspirantO sure, the DNS is configured there. I thought you meant in the portal layout tab.
- jmizoguchiVirtuosoif you use FULL tunnel , those DNS will push to remote PC and all the internet access pass SSL-VPN and not local gateway either .
- arturogAspirantThat's what am using, but connecting to windows shares is a pain. LMHosts worked, but every time I disconnect the LMHosts configuration is lost.
- aditMentorUse the HOSTS file. The settings will stay. Run ipconfig/all once connected to verify the correct DNS settings. The ping a host on the LAN.
- jmizoguchiVirtuosoDo the following to the LMHOSTS file for Windows NT, 2000, or XP:
For Windows NT or 2000 - go to the c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc directory
For Windows XP - go to the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc directory
Locate the file "LMHOSTS" - if it does not exist - copy the file "LMHOSTS.SAM" to "LMHOSTS"
Edit the file "LMHOSTS"
Add the following lines to this file - then save the file: - arturogAspirantYou missed the line entry in your last post! Will that be enough or do I have to import the file into the network device settings?
What about windows 7 clients?
