Business Central - Guest SSID
Hello, I hope someone has the answer to this.
I'm trialling out Business Central and need the AP to perform a dual role.
Firstly it needs to give access to our regular internal network for internal users. Easy.
Secondary, it needs to have an additional SSID for guest use BUT I don't want users on that second SSID to be given a DHCP address from our internal network. Ideally Business Central would dish out its own IP address to guest users so the aren't aware they're essential on the same network as internal staff.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance
Richard
Hello unilink,
Welcome to the community!
You'll be needing a VLAN setup on your network if you wanted that kind of setup. The BCWM is not a DHCP server, it is not responsible in giving away IP addresses to your network. For a better understanding on the BCWM, please read the "Key Functions" found on page 10 of the user manual.
Thanks,

Hi,
Most of the DHCP server, you can configure to give a different IP subnets based on the VLAN. If you set up different SSID on diferent VLAN, the clients connecting to these different SSID's will get IP addresses from different subnets (from the same DHCP server). This is how most of the network enterprise is set up.
Hope this helps,
Thomas
