Configuration Issue or something else going on?

Trying to figure out if have something configured wrong or what as I am on a Cox Gigablast 1Gbps connection yet my internet is painfully slow like I mean less then 1Mbps when I do speed test...   Every once in a while will jump up to 10Mbps but wont last long...   Takes like 5 minutes or more for any webpage to load.. Like just this site to write this post took well over 15 minutes...

Try to play any games on xbox, playstation, stadia or anything is painfull as super laggy...

    what modem/gateway do you have?

If you directly connect to the gateway, what speeds do you get?

whatt is the exact layout of your setup?

My signature has how I have my layout setup. How did you do yours?

  • Modem:  Arris | MODEL: TM3402A

Cable Modem is then connected too Router (BR500) which then going to Network Switch ( GC752XP ) and then that feeds out to ethernet ports in house as well as 2 WAC540 Wireless Access Points...

Unfortunately router and all equipment is upstairs in server room (smart panel) and my MacBook Pro has no ethernet port so no way to hardwire/direct connect to modem...

But talking to Cox and their remote test they said its fine.. And they sent out a tech who connected his laptop to modem directly and he said its fine.

Sadly you need to take it a step at a time. I'd recommend buying a usb---ethernet adapter to test with. They're fairly cheap and come in handy.

start at the modem. I know the technician already did but it wouldn't be the first time they said something worked when it didn't.

Also, the TM3402A has 4 ethernet prots on the back but the average user can only use 1 (unless you pay for a business class line or for multiple public ip addresses).

So start at the modem. Check the speeds.

then connect the router (need to reboot modem) and test the speeds.

      Then move to your switch.

Find out where the slowdown happens.

otherwise you have a complex network with many things that could be the issue. We need to isolate where it is instead of taking  guesses.

My TM3402A appears to only have 2 ethernet ports one of which Cox has covered with a sticker so cannot use leaving only 1 ethernet port.

Thing is xbox and everything that is connected via Ethernet gets 400Mbps+ issue only appears to be with things connected via WiFi.
