Multiple WAX206 unstable after firmware update v1.0.5.3
After updating to this version on two different WAX206 running in AP mode, the following occurs so far randomly:
- 5GHz radio stops altogether - happens simultaneously on all devices. All were running same amount of uptime. This so far has occurred once after ~ two weeks of operation. Disable/re-enable the 5GHz radio fixes it. Happened once since firmware update came out.
- One unit will hang but not simultaneously w/ other. Unplugging/plugging power fixes it Happened once since firmware update came out.
These units have been running fine w/o issues before this firmware update, running for up to a year continuously w/o issues.
Netgear, can we get an update on firmware please given I see two devices showing these behaviors?
Anyone else seeing this?
Thanks,

I am having similar problems. I have 2 x WAX206 in AP mode to give good coverage throughout my house. Since the firmware update to v1.0.5.3 one unit has failed multiple times, particularly on the 5GHz Wifi, it seems to be every 1 or 2 days. I notice as the wifi signal strength is very poor in part of house when only one unit is operational. A simple power reset resolves the issue. Before the firmware update both units operated reliably.

Hi,
Could you please share download logs, for further debug.
Thanks,

I just checked the one unit has been running reliably since Dec 30. The other unit had stopped functioning and needed reset. The logs do not show any "interesting" debug information. e.g. from just reset unit:

Yep, same exact problem here. I've got three WAX206s at my house - one serves as a router and the other two are APs. Shortly after I upgraded to firmware V1.0.5.3, I noticed I was having issues with wireless speeds on multiple devices. Then I took a look at the connected devices across all three units, and none of them were on the 5ghz networks.
If I only had one of these I'd probably chalk it up to a faulty unit but, since it was happening across all three of mine, it's definitely the firmware. I rolled them all back to V1.0.4.0 and so far, so good.
That being said, I don't like the idea of using outdated firmware due to security reasons, and I noticed Netgear says this unit is EOL. I'm thinking it's time to give OpenWrt a try.

Hi,
Thank you for reaching us.
Could you please share device issue state logs in V1.0.5.3 version, it will be helpful for further debug.
As per above conversations, seems this issue got recovered after device reset.
It would be helpful, if you can download and share device logs in issue state.
Thank you!
