Hi Brian,
Yes instant WiFi/mesh was enabled so 2 ap talk as one. Issue occurs wired too (2 sky stream devices wired) but Sky support wouldn't take that onboard saying its a broadband issue in our home. Before work 8am UK Fri going to ring sky support back to update. One thread on sky forum has 542 replies which was started in Feb 24 and is still not fixed. I did their suggested workaround yesterday before left for work 6am UK and didn't resolve. That was for out of lip sync issue but we also have picture freezing also. Device rebaged and sold in different markets globally and all reporting same issues. Devices not fit for purpose. I have 3 devices. Ours were fine till 2 weeks ago. Have cancelled the 2 additional whole home ones and they get turned off Nov 2nd. Parents still have playlist content they don't want to lose so having to keep original device till they have to move elsewhere. So MAC filtering to closest AP not going to help I'm thinking now. Was supposed to be wiring kitchen device too but not got it done yet blush. Done my 18 month contract so now on 30d rolling contract. Will ditch sky stream as soon as parents allow. Virgin Stream/Flex has issues too. Got their device as have virgin broadband but only allowed 1 device per household on FTTC and can't have cable STB & streaming device on same account either. On their XGS-PON FTTP allowed up to 6 Stream/Flex devices though. Be years before we get FTTP via them though. So researching options going forward.
Cheers in advance.

Hi jonp1331,
Thank you for your response.
When you said that another SKY streaming device (wired) has the same issue, the problem might be with your broadband. This has nothing to do with the Mesh of the APs anymore. By the way, are these streaming devices wired to a switch or directly to your NETGATE 4200 Firewall?
Kind regards,
BrianL

Yes. The 2 Sky Stream boxes are CAT8 wired to a MS510TXUP and 2 WBE750's also CAT8 wired to MS510TXP with poe++ 60W budget each. I also have a second MS510TXUP and 2 WBE750's yet to deploy (AP's for kitchen and conservatory as first 2 in living room and my bedroom). Once meshed the 2 deployed AP's insight gave poor -85db connection so have disabled mesh network. This week will action the kitchen box MAC filtered or on its own VLAN to isolate AP to nearest AP. Also the wired boxes stutter and freeze up on both UHD and 1080p content on sky stream both sky channels and BBC/ITV. Had out of sync issues too. Which the Sky forum work around for the syncing issues resolves for a few mins then it starts doing it again. They unwatchable and I'm getting grief for it. Don't know if its a coincidence but till 2 weeks ago we didn't have these issues and 2nd Oct my 18 month minimum contract had been passed. They didn't highlight this was coming up and just put my bill up £15 a month. So I've cancelled TNT sports and whole home (multi room) at £30 pm and £13 pm respectively. Now looking at alternatives for same content but cheaper. Keeping primary box till parents are happy don't still need anything on their playlist. Can't get everything from one supplier though so have to do multiple for cheapest deal. Both on Netflix speedtester and OOKLA getting 75-85mbps wired and 150+Mbps on WiFi through a wardrobe and thick wall to kitchen for kitchen box that not layed CAT8 for yet. The thread on the syncing issue on sky forum has 542 replies and 37 pages and was started back in Feb this year and Sky still not resolved it. The other night only found it at 12am and at 2am and at end of page 15 I fell asleep blush. But had read Sky had done a beta and were asking customers to volunteer to try out to so if resolved it. Which later reported mixed reviews so hadn't. Also commented Comcast parent company re-badge these boxes and sell in other global markets whose customers are reporting same issues. So the boxes are not fit for purpose and comment said they are a 2017 mobile processor with not enough RAM for job basically. Didn't know this when signed up though. They were only released Oct 2022 too.
Sorry for the long rant. Have to ring Sky support before work this morning to complain. Rang last week were technician blamed kitchen box trying to connect to both AP's at same time with obvious the weak signal from living room AP causing the stuttering. I also removed the 2.4 and 6ghz from the band too as though it was 5ghz only as have separate 2.4, 6ghz & guest SSID's. Still did it. He wouldn't accept the wired boxes have same issue either. So now got to wrestle with support. Dad wants compensation for service paying for but not receiving blush.
Cheers.

- jonp1331Oct 23, 2024AspirantMorning Brian,
Apologies as rang sky back Monday lunch in my lunch hour. Didn't go well. Ended virtually shouting at each other. Was same as first advisor wouldn't accept its their devices and blamed my WiFi/network as cause and retensions wouldn't send new devices out as same thing would happen again. I repeated 2 devices were wired and he tried to say it was my 5ghz down the cable! and at his end they showing as being on WiFi. 11.37am UK yesterday sky texted me asking for a feedback survey lol. Had forgotten get same via email after first call Tues last week. Had forgot my guest network was 5ghz too blush so last night changed that to 2.4ghz only too but it was a different ssid too btw. Kitchen device still stuttered within mins whilst having dinner at kitchen table. Parents had living room & kitchen TVs on terrestrial all day. Then 7.45pm I settled down to football on sky sports plus red button and it stuttered a couple of times in first half but also 3 times during game black screened will buffering circle then turned itself fully off and that was wired on living room device. Parents went out 7.15pm and returned 10.15pm. After their return it black screened for a few secs then came back on not turned off that time. I ended the call I'm cancelling as now down. He replier sorry my friend can't resolve over phone need a site visit to investigate. Not even bothering. But last night also read on virgin forum that their stream box which I have as got for £10 when got hub 5 approved also has issues but have not subscribed to any channels through it yet. Not wanting to now either. So researching other suppliers. As having both as suppliers for products at same time is an issue. Been on virgin since 2011 and had their cable TV uptill sky stream march 2023. Dad had satellite before that and I had sky satellite before him from 1995. Were single supply for broadband in our street until recently when openreach entered so it was virgin or dial up/ADSL Contracted to virgin till Oct 25 as had to resign march 23 to get hub 5 and £10 stream box at time was £35 activation fee for existing customers. Won't be renewing. They want full contract money to end early nearly £800 as of now so not an option. EE offered a Max of £300 to buy out our contract as a sweetener but still lumbered till end of may and need to sign 2 years with EE too. So researching suppliers for ISP too now. Blush.
