https://community.netgear.com/t5/Business-Wireless/WAX630E-firmware-update-failing-again/td-p/2284441 for one of the earlier threads. Still unsolved, I still have to individually remove the devices from insight management and reset them to defaults to get them to take new firmware. Every single time.
Scared about what you decided to be your fix on your own in the past? Has Neither the community (no to my knowledge) Netgear has published such a process. There is no need to. You can't push the firmware by device using the local Web UI. Head to Insight -> Firmware https://insight.netgear.com/#/firmware/available and check the status. If you find a device was not updated, you can push the firmware from Insight later again.
We're updating some 80'000 Windows systems on a regular base, or have just updated some Insight customer sites with some 250 WAX. No panic please... No rush! Not aware Netgear had ever requested us to trick around removing devices from Insight and almost braking a leg.
Worst case: Trigger a PoE restart, and let Insight push it again. Yes, have some Instant Mesh devices on a site, in some edges of the network
