WAX 615 has trouble starting up
Have just fired up my new wax615 access point. I cannot log in and it is not acting as a useable wifi. Unfortunately all I am getting is a series of flashing lights. The power/cloud button cycles through blue, green and amber. Network flashes orange and 2.4/5 ghz sits steady on green. I can see the wifi network (NETGEARxxxxxxâSETUP) on my computer and log into it (no password was asked for) but that is as far as I can get. Have the access point connected to the router via an ethernet cable (have swapped out just in case it was a cable problem, but no change). Have rebooted twice but no change. As a consequence of this I cannot log into the access point UI. All very dreary for something that should just pug and play. Look forward to any help

Hi Peter30457,
Welcome to the NETGEAR Community! đ
If the LED keeps on cycling after more than 2 minutes I would suggest to try doing a factory reset. On the bottom panel of the access point, near the ethernet port, locate the recessed Reset button. Using a straightened paper clip, press and hold the Reset button for at least 10 seconds (less than 10 seconds would only do a reboot).

Thanks RennaD, The device has sat with the orange light blinking for literally hours. I have done a factory reset twice and that hasn't helped. Later in the day the light sometimes does go blue or green and then just goes back to blinking orange. I still can't access the GUI which hasn't helped (it keeps defaulting to an error page) and the app is a bit cumbersome as I only want to set it up as a standalone Access Point. I am going to try a reboot again today and if it doesn't work I may send it back. If you have any other suggestions that would be great. Thanks

Hi Peter30457,
If the Power/Cloud LED is blinking amber slowly, continuously, then it means that it is unable to get an IP address from the DHCP server. What is the make and model of the router that you are using? Can you try to connect a computer on that same port where the AP is connected and check if it is able to get IP address and internet access?
Also, for additional information on the LED status and possible troubleshooting steps, please see page 233 of the link below:

Thanks for your reply.I did as you suggested and connected my iMac straight to the router via ethernet and it seemed to work fine. The router is a Deutche Telecom Speedport Smart 4. It is not that old. I have looked right though the GUI and cannot see anything that helps with DHCP. Thoughts.....
