WBE710 Temp - Can't find in Insight
Just installed two WBE710, managed via Insight. If I log into the device itself, the Dashboard shows an "Hours Trend" chart with a tab to display "Fan". On that screen it shows the device Temper...

During the early Beta phase, after hearing the fine noise for the first time, I was buffed that these WBE71x indeed have a fan, something I had not expected. My report of the fan activity caused some activity on the product engineering side, moving up the fan start to some higher device temperature
For my part, I have more concerns about fans starting to create noise or not doing the basic cooling work, due to dust accommodation, or dying bearings. Would be good to know if there is some activity monitoring -and- problem alerting in case (both local and Insight of course).
To my knowledge, these parameters are not re-distributed to the Insight cloud, reason for this decision is unknown (to me).
Quickly flying over the SNMP MIB and trap objects, I can't find temperature and fan OID, as well as no fan error (trap).
Both can be considered omissions, or missing detail features. Pramendra please, this is Netgear RD business.
Regards,
-Kurt.

The fan seems to come on at just random times as shown and always for about 20 seconds.
The temp is pretty constant 61-62 degrees; like you mentioned, there doesn't appear to be an exact trigger to kick the fan on. Looking back a few days there were times when the temp hit 63 and 64 degrees with no fan activity. Will have to keep an eye on it this summer when the ambient temp in that location will probably be 10-15 degrees warmer. Place a little silicone mat between the ceiling and the bracket.
This was for the AP upstairs at the top of the stairs on the ceiling; probably the warmest spot in the house. I then checked the AP in the basement (there is no AP on the main floor as I seem to have good coverage as is). The basement is probably 5-10 degrees cooler and looking back over 48 hours the temp was 60-62 degrees with a few hitting 63 degrees. I would have expected a lower temp considering the cooler ambient temp. Interesting....no fan activity at all.
The software engineer in me says to swap the APs and check in a few days to see what happens. But as everything finally seems stable and working, don't mess with it. I'm glad I didn't go with the WEB750 as I'm sure they run hotter. From a business standpoint, still not hot enough to worry about. But from a homeowners standpoint, its my home!
