Configuration for both Qlan and Dante

Hello,

i have an audio installation using Qsys Cores with Qlan and Dante software with a primary and backup  audio network in redundancy. there is only audio in that network

So my primary and backup network are exactly the same.

Talking just about the primary network:

QSys Core ------- M4300-24x |---------Fiber ----------M4300-24x

                                               |---------Fiber ----------M4300-24x

                                               |---------Fiber-----------M4300-24x-------Fiber --------M4300-8X8F

I'm lost on all the cases

-QoS and IP DSCP

-IGMP snooping and IGMP querier

Thanks

Fabrice

  • Hi Laurent,

    Well...... it's so simple!

i didn't know the Qsys profile would handle directly Qlan and also Dante!

Thank you for your Quick answer,

    Fabrice

    Hi Fabrice50 ,

Don't worry, it's very simple: the multicast is handled automatically by the NETGEAR IGMP Plus, and the QoS (DSCP etc.) by the various AV profiles in the AV User Interface and/or the NETGEAR Engage Controller.

Since you have several switches, please do this:

    1. Install the NETGEAR Engage Controller on your PC or Mac from there: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/engage-controller/#download
    2. Onboard your switches
    3. Upgrade their firmware as Engage is saying so
    4. Go to Site Settings, and edit the Default VLAN
    5. Select the Audio Q-SYS template, and apply, apply, apply everything else
    6. Save in the upper right
    7. Done, your network is ready for everything QLAN, QSYS control, and Dante Audio

All steps are explained, app notes after app notes, if you follow our directions there:

        Hi Fabrice50 ,

Thank you, and yes - this was a very important improvement to the NETGEAR AV Line approx. one year ago in terms of Quality of Service (DSCPs, PTP, etc.) that the picture below describes nicely. From now on, any AV profile in the AV user interface and the Engage controller implements the same, unique, do-it-all QoS strategy. As a result, you can run Dante, Q-SYS, AES67, etc. using any of the profiles, anyway:

Thank you for using the NETGEAR AV Line for your AV over IP installation!

        Laurent
