thanks, i didnt expect it would have as normally they dont and the ISP in this case Colt, should provide the modem as part of their NTE and present a RJ45 connection to us the customer.
I am trying to get Colt to confirm this but its proving painful to get the details from them.

I've never even heard of Colt as an ISP so I've got no idea what they use for standard modem/gateways.

Colt are prevelant in the UK and some parts of Europe. Most ISP's should deliver to their NTE with modem as standard, with an ISP Router being optional.

Impossible to answer.
Colt does offer many different services, CPE can be customer or Colt owned, the CPEs an be customer managed or Colt managed. Talk to your Colt business contact.
Cold does offer own fiber, ULL (unbundled local loop - xDSL), EFM (Ethernet first mile) connectivity, or does make use of SDH, EoSDH (Ethernet over SDH), or MSP (Multi Service Platform) to provide simple or redundant access. Where the Colt network is not available, customer access can be established over wDSL (wholesale DSL), SDH (leased lines), direct Ethernet (10BASE-T RJ45, 100BASE-T RJ45, 1000Base-X, 10GE, ...), or MPLS NNIs.
Typical hand-over points from Colt managed to customer managed network is done by Ethernet, sometimes G.703/G.704 (E1), G.703 (E3, DS3, ...), STM1 (Packet/SONET OC3c/STM1 Single Mode (IR) Port),
I'm wondering a little bit why/how one does choose Colt as a service provider for such a (single?) business site - and "just" for Internet access? Or are there higher level enterprise connections of your business requiring highest redundancy, service availability, off-hours config changes, and much more?

regarding choosing an ISP, we didnt have many options in the loation in Barcelona and Colt were quick and very competitive on price. Its a standard single internt access connection for a small office as most of our business services are now cloud based.
