Cannot access internet when directly connected to 1150V
Hello...
Just replaced with modem (it died) with this 1150v. Setup went fairly easy. However, when I connect to it directly I cannot get onto the internet. If I connect to my WiFi router I can get access via WiFi or ethernet. This is odd to me. If I login to the modem (have to be connected to my Asus router) then I can log into the 1150v. But there are no settings for DHCP or bridging. The 1150v is on f/w 2.02.04. I've rebooted it, factory reset it but still cannot get access to the internet when connected directly to the 1150v. Always could with modems in the past.
- any ideas on how to resolve this? My speeds when going through the Asus look good
- I am curious as to why all the Down and Up connections in the modem are not lockec
- Also all the down OFDM and the OFDMA up connections are not locked either. Maybe this isn't necessary but I'm interested to sort this out.
Thanks...
After connecting your PC directly to the modem, are you turning OFF the modem for 30 seconds then back on then check to see if the PC gets a public IP address and then has access to the internet? This should work here...Sometimes i may take a miniute or two for the PC to get fully connected with the modem...

This modem is a modem only. It does not have a DCHP server or any wifi support. It can only support 1 PC or external router connected to it. So a wired PC should get internet access thru the modem if directly connected to the modem.
Have you connected a external router to the back of the Modem? Then connect ALL wired and wireless devices to the router?- SBMongoosAspirant
Everything works fine when the Asus WiFi router is connected to the modem. Wired and wireless.
However, if I connect a PC directly to the modem I cannot get access to the internet. I've tried a ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew from the CMD prompt but no go. Just get the self assigned IP address from Win10. Once I do the release I'm not able to do the renew as it doesn't seem to identify the modem as a device I can connect to. Comcast is of no help at all. Several hours and the people there don't seem to understand. WT...!
