WiFi is inherently slower than wired Ethernet.
- With wired Etherent, data flows in both directions simultaneously. WiFi is "one device transmits at a time". The more devices there are on the same WiFi channel, the less time there is available for any particular device to transmit (or receive). The SXR30 has one WiFi6 channel that is used to support user devices and the connection between router and satellite.
- WiFi technology also has more "overhead" than Ethernet. (more data bits taken up for check sums, more "management overhead", etc.
- A lot depends on the specific WiFi adapter in the laptop. Does it support WiFi6? 2x2 MIMO?

my laptop does not support wifi 6. I also tried splitting wlan 2 and just connecting to 5g.....no difference. I am not using wifi between satellite and base. I am testing with just one device connected to the Orbi. The orbi should be able to handle 500/500 5g. All tests done with ookla (web).

WiFi5 has a maximum theoretical link speed of 867Mbps, which translates into an effective speed quite a bit less.
I'd suggest some internet research, such as https://www.increasebroadbandspeed.co.uk/realistic-speeds-wi-fi-5-and-wi-fi-6
Perhaps someone with an SXR30 and fast ISP connection will report their results as a comparison.
