SXR30 & WAX610 - VLANs & SSIDs

Hi

Relative newbie who has inherited a router issue, so help would be very much appreciated.

In the absents of a replacement for our BR200, I have read on the forums that you can use a SXR30. However, it appears to come with pre-sets for both VLANs & SSIDs & only supports 4no. SSIDs. So, we are not sure if it will be man enough.

We currently run a GC728X Switch with 2no. WAX610 with 6 SSIDs with corresponding VLANs. I am assuming the number of VLANs will not be a problem as I see you can add more to the SXR30. I'm also assuming that there is a router mode for the SXR30 & if we turn that on, & thus disable its Wi-Fi, the WAX610s can take over that role.

Essentially, what we need to do is connect our existing network to the internet with a replacement router. Any suggestions would be great.

Many thanks.

    MiloDV,

    Welcome to the community!

The SXK30 does come with presets for VLANs and SSIDs in which you can modify based on your preferred network setup (please see page 74 of the user manual here regarding how VLANs work on the Orbi Pros).

Many thanks Jerald & for the warm welcome.

Oh, ok. So if I’m understanding this correctly:
      1) If I disable Wi-Fi on the SKR30, I can use all 6 existing SSIDs & corresponding VLANs in the LAN through the GC728X & 2no. WAX610.
      2) However, when it comes to internet access, I can't just plug a trunk cable into a SKR30.
      3) There aren’t enough ports on a SKR30 for all 6 VLANs
      4) So, I would have to maybe configure one additional VLAN to 'access' between the SKR30 & GC728X & allow all the other VLANs to access it in order to be able to reach the internet?

      Or

Does Netgear not do an Insight Router capable of 802.1Q?

        Hi MiloDV,

I stand corrected regarding my previous post.

The SXK30 does support 802.1Q in which you may refer to this KB article for setting up VLANs on the SXK30.

        Regards,
