Note the Netgear response:

Does that ring any bells?
When I called NETGEAR (literally so unhelpful) they told me I needed a “little firmware update” (what does this mean I have 1.01.26) but when I queried about my circumstance above, they told me to enroll in a 140 dollar program because there’s more than can see on their end. Gross.
I doubt if that was Netgear. Did you ring a number you found on a web search? If so, it was probably one of those scam merchants that buys ad space on Google.
Finally, while many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Cable Modems & Routers
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
Check for various troubleshooting tips.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
