Can't find 5G network on my netgear genie

 

I seem to have lost my 5G capability on my router... cant seem to find how to set it up on my router.

    Hi cindy914,

     

    You can try to manually access the router's UI and check if the SSID broadcast is enabled or if the wireless router radio for the 5GHz band is enabled. You may refer to the steps below.

     

    1. Use a computer/device that is connected to the network and open a browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome).

    2. Access the router's UI by typing www.routerlogin.com and press enter.

    3. Log in. The default username is admin and password for the word password.

    4. Select Advanced > Setup > Wireless Setup.

    5. Make sure the SSID broadcast is enabled/checked for both the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz,

    6. If it is, select Advanced Settings > Wireless settings > Enable wireless router radio for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

    7. Click on Apply.

    8. Check if the devices are now able to detect the 5GHz signal.

      Hi @ericaj79,

       

      Not all wireless devices are capable of detecting the 5GHz band. Please make sure that your device is dual band capable. You may refer to the device spec sheet normally found on the user manual.

        I have the same issue, on all iphone the 5g netwrok disspaered at once. everything is enabled and updated with the r7000

  • It doesn't work. Have the same problem. I had 5G before I applied "Enable Smart Connect" and even after I switched it back it only has 5G guest. Please help.

      1. What is the model number of your NETGEAR device?

      2. Have you tried the suggested steps posted above? If not, please do.

  • Hey I had the same problem N what I found by mistake is that when you tap on the genie app wait until it connects you will see it on the bottom of the window a quarter size of the screen it's all white with letters saying waiting to connect use ur thumb or whatever finger an pull the window up it will fill the screen with the 2G Hrz used ur fingers again an swipe it to ur left you'll see 5G ?! Hello !? WtF#%€$ I know it surprise me to ~!!!! I hope this helps
