Linking Xbox One Wired Connection NAT issues

Hello!

I have a NETGEAR Genie R6400 wireless router. I have hooked up my Xbox One in the past when I first purchased this router and I had this same issue. When the Xbox is wired directly to the router with all current settings the NAT type on the console is strict and "behind a port-preserving port-symmetric NAT". When I had this issue about a year ago, I contacted Xbox support, who led me through a series of options. These options ended up with me setting a static IP for the console, forwarding a number of ports, turning off UPnP, disabling SIP ALG and setting it to "open NAT," and establishing a DMZ to my consoles static IP. These settings all fixed the issue I was having. However, recently my router was reset to factory settings by another family member and now these settings are not fixing the issue.

I contacted Xbox support and they walked me through some steps but none were successful. I'm curious if I need to completely redo the process? All my previous settings were still present, such as my static IP and the DMZ. I had to re-forward all the ports but I just forwarded them to the previously saved static IP. Could this be the issue I'm having? Or are there other settings I should be looking at? What setting should be changed or needed to wire my Xbox One directly to the router so the NAT type is open and I'm getting the most out of my router for bandwidth and gaming.

Any and all responses and help is appreciated, thank you.

    Hi hademtel,

I would recommend doing address reservation through the router for the XBOX instead of manually setting a static IP. Once you have reserved a specific IP for the XBOX then you can redo the port forwarding directing to its IP. This is a way to ensure that the XBOX will consistently get the same IP address from the router and have the forwarded ports directed to it. You may find the link below helpful.

Hello! Thank you for your quick response! Sorry I've taken a while, I finally tried this and was not successful. I've tried severl things to try and fix this problem, but have made no progress at all.

      Here's whay I've tried.

Setting a static IP fo the XBOX and forwarding all the ports to that IP

Creating a DMZ around that IP

      Turning UPnP on and off

Enabling VLAN/Bridge Setup to the port my XBOX is wired to

Changing my Internet Connection type to "Pass Through"

Tried to trigger the ports instead of forward them

And now I've tried to redo the IP and the Port forwarding and it's giving me an error message that reads "The specified port(s) are being used by other configurations. Please check your configurations of USB Readyshare, Remote Management, Port forwarding, Port Triggering, UPnP Port Mapping table, RIP, and Internet connection type"

Any and all help or responses again, are very welcomed. I'm about out of things to try. I don't know what else I could change on my router to fix this issue.

      Thanks,
