Media service not stopping

I have an issue with the media service on my R6250. Despite the service being switched off on the Genie user interface, it still appears on the control app I use for running my streamer (Naim). Is there any way of preventing it from appearing and actually stopping the service. I use Asset as my media server so I do not want the Nertgear service to run.

  • In the process of thisdiscussion, I have discovered that having Genie switched off completely actually helps my Asset server to be picked up faster by the Naim app and then run more reliably. Thanks for your help Dexter, but I think this is the solution. I only need Genie for diagnostic purposes anyway so having it closed as the norm seems to be the sensible option. It'll save you time too.

    Hi @Buntobox,

    1. What version of NETGEAR Genie do you have installed?

    2. What is the model number and firmware version of the router?

    3. Does the service still run even if you exit out of the NETGEAR Genie completely?

    4. Have you tried to uncheck the "Share files in network" and "Allow play in network" options then stopping the service?

    Regards,

      Hi Dexter

I'm running version 2.4.20 of Genie

The firmware is version 1.0. 4.2

If Genies is switched off completely, the service stops.

I have tried the idea you suggest of unchecking those two options, and it made no difference. The service was still running

        Hi @Buntobox,

Please provide screenshots showing that the NETGEAR Genie Media service is stopped on the UI and it still running on the app.

        Regards,
