R7000 "No Internet Connection" in App

Similar ISP setup and situation to:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Wi-Fi-5-AC-Routers/R7000-Nighthawk-No-Internet-Connection/m-p/2221698#M215680

Tried all the solutions on:  https://kb.netgear.com/27199/I-can-t-access-my-router-what-do-I-do

I bought an R7000 router years ago after being spoiled using Genie app. Been using ISP fiber modem and router (Calix devices, cannot get to see additional info), however I have never been able to setup the R7000 router via Nighthawk app. Limited to using the R7000 only as a switch. Recently, I have started all over, repeatedly reset the router attempting to simply use it as an Access Point in my attached shop to improve Wifi until I invest in new mesh setup. I can get Nighthawk to connect to the R7000 but Always get the "No Internet Connection" when connecting directly to ISP router port. Using the Advanced Setup route provides same results. Discovered the MAC on the router does not match the MAC displayed on the ISP router's connected devices roster, which the last character is different (10:0C:6B:2A:0B:51 on the label vs displayed 10:0C:6B:2A:0B:52). Neither works to set up a static IP address that Nighthawk recognizes.

Frustrating that every resource i have found relies on using the Nighthawk app, or instructs to go to the same web addresses that take me to a page which tells me to download the Nighthawk app or loops back to the same web addresses again. No other approach seems available. While I have been a loyal Netgear user for years, I am very leery about investing and buying a new Nighthawk mesh system if I will experience the same issues as I am with the current R7000 router. My experience with Nighthawk has not been any good so far. I have been using a Samsung Android to run the Nighthawk app and have downloaded the newest version a couple days ago. Seems I cannot provide additional info on the R7000 router without being able to go further with the phone app.

Thought of connecting a laptop directly to the R7000 as an ad-hoc network to manage the R7000 setup, but my devices do not have ethernet ports on them anymore. Frustrating the barriers to simply being able to access the device configurations. If investing a new Nighthawk Mesh system, will be as frustrating as this, I will be looking at something else.

  • Quick update....

Someone just loaned me an old mesh system of theirs to try, a MR-60 router and two MS-60 satellites. They upgraded to an Orbi setup in their shop. Using the Nighthawk app, I was able to get to the point where i would connect to the Nighthawk WiFi. However, my phone would not connect, saying I was entering the incorrect password. Odd because it automatically entered a password for me and copying the shown password from the app then pasting it manually resulted in the same "Could Not Connect - Incorrect password" message. Nighthawk app still says to tap on "Wifi is Connected" without being able to go back, which exits me from the app.

Incorrect password but it is the password given to me by the Nighthawk app, copied and pasted using the prompts in the app. What gives?????

Not at all impressed and am quite disgusted with this whole Nighthawk thing.
